Captain Kings’ Legend, Swan 65
Kings’ Legend has a crew of enthusiastic sailors forming a great team. Gijs van Liebergen, the skipper of King’s Legend, is a sailor at heart and soul. At six years old, he was often to be found on his father’s sailboat and at the age of fourteen, he made his first sail crossing from Holland to England. Gijs van Liebergen has been the owner and skipper of Kings’ Legend since 1999. Together with his partner Femke Lobach he sailed the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans. He loves sharing his vast knowledge of sailing and coaching a regatta team to reach the highest performance.
Gijs holds his Yacht master Certificate and also attended the School of Navigation in Enkhuizen.
Crew King’s Legend, Swan 65
Femke Lobach is the organisational brain behind Kings’ Legend Ltd. She makes sure that every trip is arranged from beginning to end down to the last tiny details.She has an intuitive organisational talent and also runs her own trainer/coach agency. King’s Legend gave her the opportunity to combine her business talent with her passion for sailing.
Captain CANNONBALL, 73ft Mini Maxi
Wouter has sailed from an early age on starting sailing small dinghies like the Laser at an age of twelve. Later he switched to larger dinghies and keelboats and became a sailing instructor. At the age of 23, he started participating in yachting races like the Fastnet race in various positions (mostly genoa and mainsail trim). He crewed as first mate on a 65’ Privilege Catamaran making two trans-Pacific crossings. From October 2003 until May 2004 he has been part of the permanent crew on the 80’ IOR Maxi Martella operating in all positions. Later that year he joined Whitbread racer Kings’ Legend a famous Swan 65 for a couple trans-Atlantic races and deliveries to the Caribbean and back to Europe. Bluewater sailing is his second nature.
Captain Volvo 70, Team Trifork
Jens already took part in the Volvo Ocean Race team Brunel in 2014-2015 and with Ericsson 3 in 2008-09. An America’s Cup veteran and a winner of the Maxi Worlds, the Danish sailor has been involved in most of Bouwe Bekking’s campaigns. His teammate Pablo speaks of a “very kind and very experienced sailor, skilled in many areas around the boat.”
