After having sailed 2 editions in the Volvo Ocean Race and more than 100,000 miles under the name Team Brunel, it is time for a change. The yellow racing machine has a new look and a new name. From now on she sails under the name: Childhood 1. The boat is named after the global Childhood foundation of the same name, which works for the rights of children. The foundation was founded by Queen Silvia of Sweden. More information can be found at www.childhood.org.
The cooperation between CHILDHOOD and Sailing Holland is made possible by external donors who support the idea of the CHILDHOOD foundation. They give their support to present the name “CHILDHOOD” to a larger audience. External donors, in large or small form, can commit to this fantastic initiative. This way, Brunel will also remain involved in the campaign. The boat departed Scheveningen on October 15, 2019 for a Caribbean regatta tour.

Sponsor the Ocean Race 2021-22 Campaign
As the owner of the boat, Sailing Holland remains committed to young offshore talent and the goal is to participate in The Ocean Race 2021-22. Whether this is known as Childhood 1 is not yet known. In any case, Sailing Holland will strive to get as many Dutch parties as possible (partners, crew) involved in the campaign. Bouwe Bekking, skipper of Team Brunel in the Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 and 2017-18, is closely involved and will regularly come on board during the races.
