You can fly into either Brisbane or Gold Coast Airports on Thursday 1st November in time to join the Ocean Gem crew for a crew dinner ashore. On the morning of Friday 2nd November you will depart Southport and head to the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron (RQ) in Manly on Moreton Bay and host of the Queensland Beneteau Cup and French Yacht Challenge. The trip north through “The Swamp” is a navigational challenge with both spectacular scenery and lots of narrow channels and shallow areas.
You’ll arrive at RQ during the afternoon and berth at the RQ marina. Friday night will be a quiet evening as the crew does their final pre-race checks and you will stay onboard. The balance of the crew will arrive on Saturday morning in time for breakfast and the race briefing at RQ. Then Ocean Gem heads out on Moreton Bay for Day 1 of the regatta, followed by interim results, presentation of the French Cup and refreshments with the other crews back at RQ around 5:30 pm before heading to dinner in Manly.
Sunday you do it all over again, kicking off with a crew breakfast and debrief in the Manly Village before heading out on Moreton Bay for day 2. Sunday at 5 pm is the Queensland Beneteau Cup presentation, followed by dinner ashore, another night onboard, before a 6 am departure to head back to Southport on Monday 5th November and arrive by 1 pm.
